What's your leadership style?

January 2023
Happy New Year, may this year bring positive change, growth, health, wealth and happiness to all.
Building on the back of a few really challenging years, which have hopefully taught us some much-needed lessons about where we want to build out parts of our life and what parts we should allow to crumble.
Letting go is not easy, but it is necessary.
As we let 2022 go and leap into 2023 what do we take with us and what do we leave behind?

Numerologically we are now in a 7 (2+0+2+3 =7)
7 is the number of the Contemplative Truth-seeker
And in the tarot, is the Chariot card.
We will really begin to feel the sudden forward momentum this year, big thematic changes are afoot, and if we have been doing our work, we are more than ready to step up to them.
Get on your chariot, seek the new truths of our new world, be the change.
You’ve Got This
Carinal Energy
With all that in mind we are going to take a brief look at the first of the three modes of astrology.
1) Cardinal
2) Fixed
3) Mutable

These are the next layer to understanding yourself through the archetypal lens of astrology and life.
These three energies link to a season.
We start the season with a cardinal sign, fix into the season with a fixed sign and begin to shift season with a mutable sign.
Cardinal steps forward boldly like leader, initiating us to the next stage of development, the next big project, the next season both physically and metaphorically of our lives.
There are four Cardinal signs; Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn.
If you have strong energy in any of the 4 you may feel this mode resonates strongly with you.
Remembering that you are likely a combination of all three with a stronger predisposition to one of them.
There is a way to tally up your mode and your element score.
For example, I score; 6 Cardinal, 10 Fixed, 8 Mutable
Even though Cardinal is my lowest score there is energy there.
If your cardinal energy is very high by comparison to the others, it can be a case of how to mitigate it, or if it is excessively low, how to build it up.
There is a cardinal sign in each of the 4 elements, each has a different leadership style…and is not happy with the leadership style of the other 3.
These signs are at 90 degree or 180-degree angles from one another.
If you remember from our Aspects theme these are tricky aspects…a reminder below.

The Opposition – 2 planets at 180 degrees from each other…opposite
Think tug-of-war, they are polarized and represent opposite points of view. This will always be a challenge to mitigate internally because it would be like trying to placate waring siblings on opposite sides of the room, you can only focus on one at a time and feel constantly pulled between the two.

The Square – planets at 90 degrees from one another.
Pressure to change. Think of a right angle and a planet on either side, both adamant that their way is the right way and a rather stubborn refusal to compromise. This creates uncomfortable pressure, but if we surrender, we may transform into a diamond.
I do have posts on my website www.rainbowwisdom.co.za covering the Planets, the Signs, Houses, Aspects and more, should you want to refresh on any of those.
How does this help?
Start by looking at your chart and seeing where (the Houses) your cardinal energy is and if you have planets or points there.
Now look at which element and leadership style it takes.

Aries – Cardinal Fire
I leap before I look, shoot before I aim! I am fearless and hard headed, full of childlike enthusiasm like a firecracker my ideas strike. Just like striking a match…if I don’t have some sustainable fuel, I can burn out pretty quickly. Never fear I rebound quickly and find my energy to fight another day.
Cancer – Cardinal Water

My emotions and sense of things lead me, and I trust my gut. I lead by nurturing and feeding the needs of others. I am sensitive, and sensitive to the emotions of those around me. I prefer to handle things by walking sideways like the crab rather than head on like the ram. Sometimes I clam up and need alone time to process my emotions before I can form them into thoughts and then words and actions.

Libra – Cardinal Air
I lead with an attempt at balance, justice and truth. I listen to all the opinions and try to make everyone happy. Sometimes this makes decision making tough and I can be passive aggressive in an attempt to keep the peace while quietly feeling judgmental and resentful. Ultimately, I just want us all to get along and what what’s best for everyone, even though this is not possible I try hard.

Capricorn – Cardinal Earth
I lead by example, I climb the mountain before me, build the business brick by brick. I am organized, and relentless in fulfilling my goals, I also expect such high standards and gritty resilience from those I lead. I do not suffer fools gladly and have no time for the childish ram, soppy crab and passive scales if they can’t get things done and hit the deadlines.
Four very different leadership styles which ones resonate more with you…do you have planets there?
Example I have Mercury (my thinking planet) in Cancer and Moon (my feeling planet) in Aries.
I am an emotional warrior who will fight from the heart, but my internal narrative is emotional and often I need to withdraw to understand how I feel…see the thinking feeling aspects of my chart are often squeezing me uncomfortably to grow.
If you see planets in more than one of the Cardinal signs in your chart, read the little synopsis of each sign and ask yourself if you can feel those internal struggles and how to manage them.

Crystals Made Simple
This is the name of my Udemy course.
Looking at Cardinal crystal energy I will give one option for each of the cardinal signs. Remember nothing is better than your intuition, and there are many options you could use, this is just my intuitive picks.

Garnet - Aries – Cardinal Fire
For me, garnet is strong, hard headed, passionate and instils confidence. I would follow a leader with a garnet personality. You feel the abundance of courage and luck with this crystal. It also has a deep clarity of focus, which Aries needs.

Rose Quarts – Cancer – Cardinal Water
Rose Quartz loves water, and has a strong mothering energy. Like Cancer there is a need to nurture and a strong intuitive awareness of emotional intelligence or lack thereof. With Rose quartz as your boss, you will feel held and understood and want to give of your best.

Optic Calcite – Libra – Cardinal Air
This is a crystal that has a soft and clear approach, trying to support balance, even if that balance looks different for each of us. As with Libra, you may not even realize that have been smartly dressed and ushered onto the stage for a presentation, yet that is where you find yourself. And somehow you have the confidence you need to shine.

Bloodstone – Capricorn – Cardinal Earth
Cleans and clear all that is not working, get the blood flowing by taking the next right step…that is what bloodstone encourages. Capricorn is seeking stability and structure and needs to clean out the members of the team who are not pulling their weight. Bloodstone is the gal for the job.
Capricorn knows how to delegate.

Aromatherapy Made Simple
Same again let’s look at one example of a good Cardinal oil for each sign.

Wild Orange - Aries – Cardinal Fire
Quick acting, enthusiastic, optimistic and fun, who wouldn’t want Wild Orange around. Bringing out creativity and playfulness while focusing the mind and improving digestion, this is a great Aries oil.

Rose oil – Cancer – Cardinal Water
Rose oil is truly the queen of the oil world. She is strong, beautiful, sensitive, emotionally available and balancing. Hormones, moods and general overindulgence can be balanced with this indulgent queen.

Black Spruce – Libra – Cardinal Air
A gentle balancing and grounding essence, with deep roots and a tall and noble stance. These trees remain grounded while reaching for the sky. There is a connection between trees in the roots and in the branches, they are in relationship with one another. Spruce up your relationships by being personally accountable for your own wellbeing.

Patchouli – Capricorn – Cardinal Earth
With its earthy scent and steady pace this is a great Capricorn oil. There is almost a musky scent to Patchouli, like the smell of physical labor and resinous notes. Clay play and the joy of building something with your own blood, sweat and tears.
Use any oils that are 100% pure essential oils, not fragrance oils.
I highly recommend doTERRA which is CPTG (Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade).
