Here we are in the penultimate month of the solar cycle. At this point of the zodiac cycle we are looking at the intense and transformative sign of Scorpio and my theme centers around Diving deep to Transform.

The butterfly is the ultimate symbol of Transformation

As you know I love ‘synchronicities’ as they are the Universes way of saying, ‘pay attention.’

I have mentioned before too that I set my themes last year so when I get to a month and the theme is not just appropriate to the sign and/time of year, but to symbols I personally have been getting, it is deliciously exciting and affirming for me.

One of my favourite symbols for transformation is the Butterfly, I have been seeing them everywhere and sharing them on my Rainbow-Healing page low and behold my Nov theme is about transformation!

See my Spotlight Advice for some ideas of how to take transformation to a deeper level.

The Sun is now in Scorpio, 23rd Oct – Nov 21st. Scorpio has a foreboding reputation and can be scary for sure. It is important to remember, there are said to be three phases of Scorpio. The Scorpion (sting in the tail will torture you if you threaten it or its family/business/friends). The Serpent (Here death will not come from behind you will know it is coming, and rather than drawn out your torture will be quick). The Phoenix (has fully transformative powers and does not direct the death rebirth cycle outwardly but rather goes through that process inwardly). Poor Scorpio though is not bad, but rather the sign, as I mentioned last month that deals with death, sex and transformation. Remember you are ready to deal with these deeper and more challenging experiences. Before anyone panics, remember death is not limited to the end of one’s life, but rather there are many deaths we live through, from the death of a business or relationship, the death of a loved one and so on. Most of these deaths are followed by rebirth, like the phoenix.

We then move into the sign of Sagittarius on Nov 22nd – Dec 21st (notice that the dates may vary according to where you look up your info by a day here or there). Hopefully this will pull us out of the depths Scorpio took us to. Fire signs are full of energy, joy and passion so there will be a shift from the emotional and intense water energy. That said, if you actually did some deep and conscious transformation through Scorpio, then Sag will gift you the opportunity to shoot some powerful arrows of intention into the new future you are creating. The Rebirth after the metaphorical death.

New Moon this month is on the 7th in the sign of Scorpio. You can choose to handle the lessons like the scorpion, the serpent or the phoenix.

Next Red Tent’s;

Port Alfred evening group Wednesday 7th November.

Grahamstown afternoon group Thursday 8th November.

Full Moon is on the 23th September in the sign of Gemini. Social gatherings will be playful and full of chatter. Expect conversations about travel and maybe even real travel in the works.

Crystal picks for October

Black Tourmaline is a crystal for deep protection. It is extremely grounding and helps greatly with psychic attack. This is a scary term that basically means our auras are under attack by little daggers of ill thoughts. Though this can certainly be from people who are consciously trying to cause harm, it is more often from those we love. An argument that leaves us thinking angry thoughts toward each other. Our own self flagellating thoughts. When we are energetically vulnerable these arrows can do harm. When we are energetically robust they are more likely to bounce off of us. Black Tourmaline helps when we are vulnerable giving us an extra layer of protection.

Moonstone is a stone ruled by the moon and as such the tides and our cycles and rhythms. Water is very reflective, as is Moonstone. Before elaborating I want to mention her cousin who is also a pick of the month and then talk about the difference between the two.

Labradorite like Moonstone is part of the feldspar family. Both have a reflective quality, and a strong connection to feminine wisdom. Where Moonstone focuses on emotions, hormonal rhythms and our more day to day functioning on these levels, Labradorite is more the rebellious sort. She is not content to merely manage the mundane (her feelings not mine, there is much to be said for managing one’s day to day needs), she wants to go deeper, learn more, explore whatever the costs to find the magic of transformation. Pick your poison, so to speak, or work with both stones to help achieve balance.

Aromas of the month

Juniper like its piercing leaves and sharp scent, it is great for focus, clarity and mental upliftment. Our first act after being born is to take a deep breath, as we take in this new life. The same is true with each rebirth we must have a last exhale as the old dies away and inhale anew. Juniper is very good for just that. It gives us the momentum we need.

Myrrh is deep, rich and intuitive. It is also a costlier oil, but one that requires very few drops to be effective. As one of the gifts from the wise men to Jesus, we can see it has long been valued. Myrrh is derived from resin and has a sharpish smell not dissimilar to Frankincense.

Patchouli has a wonderfully musky, earthy smell. It will help us connect to our wild and instinctual selves. This is because when transforming we need to be more primal and instinctual than intellectual.

Some other exciting news is I am running my ever popular

Aromatherapy Workshop in Grahamstown for the first time on the 17th November from 9 – 1.

The cost is R400 but as a special I have a bring a friend and each pay R350 option too.

Includes; notes, tea and snack, and oil blend and my continued support and advice.

Transformation tips

In one cauldron…

scorpions’ tail, eye of…

just kidding transformation does not require spells, but there are tools and rituals that could be helpful.

Transformation is rarely easy, it often requires waring us down so that we are vulnerable and afraid and too uncomfortable in our skins not to want to change something.

In fact, the humble caterpillar eats herself to bursting point. She is so very uncomfortable she wraps herself in a nurturing and safe shawl (chrysalis) of protection and begins not just to grow wings, but to dissolve. She must first allow all that she is to melt away before reforming until she is completely different and yet the same. The butterfly is truly worthy of being the symbolism of TRANSFORMATION!

As important and often unavoidable as this is, it helps to do some energetic housekeeping in order to be more energetically robust. This can be energy healing (crystal healing, reiki, sound healing) or hands on healing, like a massage. Meditation is also very good.

Doing this helps us to get better at coming back to a place of equilibrium, after a storm.

Another exercise I would recommend is a journaling exercise of past/present/future you. Journal as yourself 5 years ago, what were you hopes, your dreams, your goals. What were your biggest challenges. Do the same for the present you, and then the you 5 years in the future.

If you see you are having the same issues you were 5 years past, you are stuck and need to transform. If you see how much you have transformed think what the next 5 years could bring. There is no right or wrong, we all do things in our own good time. Just like babies hitting milestones.

Lastly, I love the quote ‘If an egg is broken from the outside, life ends, if it is broken from the inside, life begins.’

Did you know that if you were to help a butterfly out of its chrysalis its wings would not gain the strength to fly?

You cannot blame others for the things that go on in your life, not if you want them to change.

You have to make the change within the egg/chrysalis, and then break free from there.

It is time to courageously take responsibility for both the good and the challenging aspects of your life.

This hero’s quest is for the brave. I look forward to meeting you along the path.
