Month 2 of the New Year may be the shortest, but we are in for short and quite possibly sharp.
Let us be prepared to face the lightning bolts and take the lessons.
Our theme this month is Aquarius.
If you need a reminder about how this astrological archetype theme works or want to look up another sign, check out the last newsletters in my blog.
Aquarius, The Visionary
Where Capricorn was one of the main themes of 2020, Aquarius is a major theme for 2021.
Aquarius is the 11th sign of the zodiac, it is an Air sign (yes, it is often confused for a water sign because it is the water barer, but I promise this energy is so very Air).
Saturn is still very important as the traditional ruler of Aquarius, with the modern ruler being Uranus.
Both of these two heavy hitting planets are of extra importance this month, because they form a square (90-degree angle in the living sky).
Now a square means these two planets are at odds. Let me give you a few key words for each.

Saturn – effort, structure, boundaries, time, authority, respect (get the idea, bossy headmaster who expects slow steady progress and reliability).

Uranus – shocks, surprises, paradigm shifts, quick change (Hmm, already we can see that these two have very different approaches.
Saturn is telling you to earn your growth and respect by working hard, every day for forever.
Uranus is saying, ‘you can’t break and arm slowly. Break the bone, reset it and move on, now!”
I don’t know about you, but I think they both have a point…but what will happen when they really air their different opinions this month?
Obviously, it will be different for us all…and there will be 3 squares this year between these two, so pay attention, cause, this is a yearlong lesson.
I am sorry to have to mention this as it may feel like insult to injury, but Mercury has just gone retrograde in, you guessed it, Aquarius.
All the Mercury retrogrades this year will be in the air signs, yet another reminder that we need to be doing something to calm our nervous systems.

Harnessing Aquarius…

How can we use this energy wisely then?
Aquarian energy is rebellious, eccentric, intelligent, holds a vision of a future where there is unity, community, networking and connection.
If Aquarian energy is balanced there is a sense of belonging, whilst being comfortable to be your unique self. You may have a clear and creative headspace where you have high ideals and plans for your own future and that of humanity.
(Ella at 4 years old, showing her quirky Aquarian style)
In the lower expression of Aquarius however we have rebellion, defiance, revolution…all things we see happening as the world tries to change. We may feel like outcasts, loners or just shut down mentally and emotionally.
So where does this hit home for you as you read this?
Which areas do you feel need balancing out in your life?
Spotlight Advice
Growing with Aquarian energy

If you are resonating strongly with this Archetype, then I am going to give you a few suggestions.
First to enhance the energy, second to sedate the energy and thirdly to enjoy the energy…lets jump in.
Action Steps

1) Enhancing Aquarius: If you want to give some extra potency to your vision board, this is the season to do it in.
If you have never heard of a vision board, this would be the time to learn a new thing, Aquarius love to learn.
Astrology is very Aquarian, so is the internet.
Get involved in your community and look at how you can inspire, support and connect.

2) Sedating Aquarius: whoa, just slow down a bit.
Remember to breathe deeply.
In fact, this is a great time to do breath work, yoga and meditation to calm those frazzled nerves and settle that busy mind.
Reduce your caffeine intake.

3) Enjoying Aquarius: Get connected, to friends, or groups.
If not in person, then over the phone or online.
Communicate (but do it mindfully with Mercury retrograde) any way you enjoy, chatting, journaling, blogging, teaching etc.
Work on accepting your own weird and wonderful aspects.
Contact me for more info on, personal coaching, healing, yoga or meditation.
I am doing yoga via Zoom Monday at 10:30, Wednesday 17:30 and Thursday at 8am.
Astrology Buzz
Aquarius January 21st to February 18th should be a busy time for us all.
With the first Mercury retrograde of 2021 happening too.
Pisces February 19th to March 20th Happy solar returns to those celebrating their birthday over Pisces season.
Water equals a feeling season and Pisces ends the cycle.
We then begin again in Aries.
Full Moon was in Leo on the 28th opposing the Sun in Aquarius.

Forgiveness is a key component of working successfully with the Full moon phase.
Questions you may ask yourself in Leo/Aquarius;
Moving forward, what do I have to do to keep my heart open and make a difference in the world?
If you are Leo dominant – How can I lead groups of people to a better future, keeping my heart open and not becoming arrogant?
If you are Aquarian dominant – How can I connect emotionally with others while I share my expansive visions for the future?
If even one of these triggers you on some level, take the time to think about it, journal or meditate on it.
Use these tools mindfully and if you need extra support and guidance, I am available for consultations.
And then we have February’s Full Moon on the 27th in the sign of Virgo.
As it is at the end of the month, we will look at it in the March newsletter.
New Moon: February Dark Moon is on the 11th in the sign of Aquarius.
This is the time to seed your intentions and to do the shadow work or inner healing.
Moonifesting is an immensely powerful practice and each cycle begins at the New Moon.
If you are ready to change your story and heal old wounds, I would love to be your guide from the side.
Red Tent
Dark Moon is when women gather in the Red Tent.
Remember we are operating on a global level now so get in touch if you want to find out how to join us.
Here are a few testimonials from some of our magical moon sister’s;
“I joined Red Tent just over a year ago and it has been an extraordinary time of accelerated growth. It has provided me with tools that can be explored and used in multiple facets of life and has gifted me with a radically new level of awareness.” Ruth

“Attending Red Tent has been an eye opener for me on many levels. Firstly, how astrology impacts us, how the moon and various planets impact us. Secondly, how you can use various tools to help navigate through the month from new moon to next new moon. Over and above that it is the various friendships that you build. It has brought me immense joy and groundedness to understand what is happening for the month ahead and helped me to set intentions that are appropriate for the month ahead and all in all it is a wonderful experience to be part of Red Tent.” Bronwyn
Crystal picks for February
Aquarian Theme
Amethyst is the birthstone for Aquarius. It is also a wonderful crystal to calm, soothe and settle emotions and the nervous system. This is an easily available and affordable crystal that is usually one of the first additions to a crystal collection. Amethyst is an exceptionally good crystal to support sleep and dreaming. This will aid in calming the analytical mind so the creative vision can be better seen.
Opal, this Aquarian pick it has a strong link to water and the emotions. As the water carrier, Aquarius could learn a thing or two from this element. Often forgetting to tune into how they feel, this stone will help link mind and emotions. Opal is also said to assist in psychic vision and Aquarius is the visionary. It is extremely challenging right now to even imagine the vision of our new world so this delicate stone may be useful.
Howlite is a very slow-moving gentle stone that calms the mind, and it too assists with sleep. Aquarius energy can get stuck in the mind and find that analysis paralysis keeps you from restful sleep. If you feel yourself getting into righteous anger this is a good crystal to hold so it can absorb the excess intensity of the emotion.
Aromas of the month
Breathe and Cedarwood are my pics for the month of Aquarius.
Breathe blend is perfect to get through the Aquarius energy.
Firstly, because air signs tend to forget to breathe, or to breathe shallowly. Secondly because this oil will force deeper and slower breaths, which will in turn help to ground this air energy and to calm frayed nerves.
It is a magical doTERRA blend designed specially to work on respiration, although it does not work solely on this system.
In TCM (traditional Chinese medicine) the theory is that when treating any condition, the lungs and respiration need strengthening.
In Yogic traditions there is a huge focus on pranayama (breath work).
In western society our breathing usually needs to be retrained as we breath too fast and shallowly…a little how we have been conditioned to live our lives.
Time for a change methinks.
Then we have Cedarwood, which has a strong woody almost burnt aroma.
I love how instantly the woody oils anchor my roots and bring me back to earth.
This oil however I like more when it is blended with another oil. I love cedar with all kinds of oils, other woods, florals, citrus and tree oils.
It is useful in treating ADD, ADHD and anxiety. I also love it in my mozzie blends (see below for a good mozzie repellent recipe).
Uses and Blend suggestions:
Diffuse the monkey mind add 2 drops Cedarwood, 5 drops Breathe in your diffuser.
This blend will help keep you calm, grounded and breathing. Calming your nervous system, thoughts, and emotions.
Mozzie Blend – into a 50ml spray bottle add 10 drops, 5 drops each of Lavender, Lemongrass and Eucalyptus (other oils I interchange in my mozzie blend are peppermint, tea tree and citronella) then fill with Fractionated coconut oil, or 50/50 water and witch hazel.
Note: How Fast do Essential oils work?
It takes 22 seconds for the molecules to reach the brain.
In 2 minutes, Essential oils will be found in the bloodstream.
By 20 minutes they will affect every cell in the body
SAMPLE ALERT – I love to sample for FREE those who are keen to try out my magical oily friends. Do not hesitate to get in touch if you would like to be sampled.
Remember to write your blends in your blend book so you remember what you liked and what you didn’t.
